U really should at least add aditionally share price to filter... buying a 500 bux stock is something totally different from buying a 1 bux stock...

There is problem with the program tracking CEO and CFO trades in that it does this for page 1 but after you go to page 2 and onward all different insider trades are being added to the mix. It is not working properly and I have seen it work right before.

What is the best time of day to daytrade? Is the best time the last hour or so of the regular session, ie. 930-4PM. I have been observing volatility at the open and then volatility around an hour of the close and even the last 15 minutes to close and seems like a lot of volatility at last hour to 15 minutes of close. Instead of being sucked into the market open with all the overnite orders being filled I thought I would have a plan to do other things during the day (I am retired) and then day trade the last hour or so of every day and then see if I can be more successful. What I find if I begin day trading at open is that I get so involved that I spend the entire Does anyone have any insight from their experience over the years as to the best time of the day to daytrade??? Please help.

Can you identify stock purchases and option exercises separately in your Company "Insider Ownership" Monthly Summaries and your "Insider Trades" data files? Also, adding separate columns for the number of monthly purchases, sales, and options exercises would be fantastic. Thanks.
ReplyJazgal - 11 months ago
maybe because when they exercise their options it is not done in open market ... usually a compensation .. and usually exercise them then sell them - 11 months ago

Why does the insider trading information does not show CEO's Buying through exercising option ? For example, AEL (ticker) CEO MATOVINA JOHN M executed insider transaction on Nov 24th and I am not able to find that anywhere.

GuruFocus Staff,

Tim Gitzel is the CEO of Cameco Corp, but many of the things on this page list Clear Channel Outdoors Holdings Inc. Please fix the error.

When I sort these (by ticker), it only sorts the current page - i.e. 20 or so records. I would like to see all the transactions for one ticker together to look for cluster buys or cluster sales.

SPY is the ticker of the ETF that tracks the S&P 500.

There should be more that you don't need to subscribe for. This site may be useful but the hard sell is off-putting.

What is everyone's take on DUTV with it's position and growth ??
ReplyDavidWX - 2 years ago
You know what would be awesome? If we could generate a list of insider cluster buys which include one CEO and or CFO buy.
ReplyJungsoojang - 2 years ago
ReplyFerrazo - 2 years ago
It would be useful to have a more detailed graph... relative to the ttm or 6 months.. t
ReplyGurufocus - 2 years ago
All In One screener allows you to sort Insider data any ways you want:
ReplyKostinkopower - 2 years ago
I agree. cant sort the way i want.
ReplyGurufocus - 6 years ago
As you can see from this page, there are 619 pages in total, data goes back to 3 years ago. Therefore, if we want to sort, we have to sort within certain ranges, either within a time period or within certain number of buys/sells.
ReplyPcspcs - 6 years ago
Your system does not allow proper sorting. Sorts the current page, not the entire list. I want to sort the entire list by company, trade price, etc. Also, sometimes headings do not show as sort links. Many times page must be refreshed several times to correct this.
ReplySg3 - 6 years ago
Seems to be error in heading above.

" Stocks That Have Been Sold ...." should read "Stocks That Have Bought..."

ReplyPuff6962 - 6 years ago
I would like to see the insider buys with a column also showing the DCF margin of safety calculation. 10/5/1 year book value growth would also be great.
ReplyGurufocus - 6 years ago
Insider Sells have also been added.
ReplyGurufocus - 6 years ago
Thank you for the valuable suggestions. We will work toward that.

Of course if you can recommend GuruFocus to the media, it will be very helpful to its "long live", especially during this tough time.

Thanks for the great changes to the Insider section! This will save me a great deal of time. And hopefully get you new clients who are currently dependent on other (very expensive) insider subscription services. Can I suggest a couple of important refinements to what you have already done? You'd be providing a really unique, not to mentionally highly marketable, service if you can do the following:

1. I love it when CFOs or other savvy operators massively increase their holdings on the open market. Can we somehow download a list of those companies with the highest % change in insider buying in the last x months? My own personal interest would be to look at those companies where CFOs are using their own money to massively increase their holdings by 500% or more - a sure vote of confidence in the company's future prospects; when screening, it would be nice if your system could allow us to eliminate those stocks where insiders have been selling in the last x months.

2. I only like to buy stocks where savvy insiders, eg CFOs, are buying on the open market AND, most importantly, where ROE has improved recently. Is there some way you can adapt the system to screen for these criteria? Displaying a few fundabentals like "%change in ROE" in the excel download, together with the insider data, would be a great start.

3. The great Peter Lynch was fond of stocks where institutional ownership was very low - often below 1%. Stocks with increasing institutional ownership will always fare well, especially when insiders are buying as well. Is there some way you can adapt the system so we can select only those stocks where last reported institutional ownership was above or below x%? Data on institutional ownership is freely available eg.

I spend so much time doing the above manually. If you get this going, I will take great pleasure in recommending your site to interested journalists at Investors Business Daily and Barrons.

Long live Gurufocus! Keep up the great work.

Many thanks

This page has been updated to include sector/industr, market cap, positions of the insiders in Excel download.
ReplyGurufocus - 6 years ago
Yes, these can be done. We will update the insider download page to include these.

Can you also let us know how you use the downloaded data, if possible? Maybe we can include some more info into the download which will reduce your work?
ReplyNewhigh - 6 years ago
1. I need to download a list of CFO insider buys. Everytime I try to download this from Gurufocus, I seem to get a list of all insiders, not just the CFOs. Can the system be improved to allow us to download by criteria such as "officer", "CFO", "director" etc

2. Is there a way we can download or list the following:
- Insider buys in x weeks as a percent of total number of listed shares.
- Insider buys by sector.

Hope you can help. I'm currently having to subscribe to other services for this information.
ReplyM.aboulwafa - 6 years ago
yes if you see heavy selling the way Mozilo sold Countrywide, and we shorted at $40, then we could have made serious money. Especially when its just not one insider but several.
ReplyAugustabound - 6 years ago
Sure, I guess if multiple insiders are selling in a poor or declining business that could be a flag.
ReplyCallaquin - 6 years ago
if you think the businesss if flawed and then see insider selling, this can help you decide no? i never check insider activity, but im just saying...

I like to go by how Peter Lynch described insider selling, they can do it for many reasons, few of which are in reaction to the business model.
A lot of variables go with insider selling from locking in profits, to selling for personal reasons like paying down debt, a renovation, divorce, child expenses etc.
There's only one reason for insider buying, confidence in the company and it's direction.

ReplyGurufocus - 6 years ago
There are much more insider sales than insider buys. Currently insider sales are only listed under specific stocks.

By the way, why an overall picture of Insider sells are important?
ReplyM.aboulwafa - 6 years ago
CEO,CFO sells

we have insider buys but what about an insider sell tool?
