EverPoint Asset Management is an investment management firm based out of Stamford, Connecticut. The company operates as a subsidiary of Point72 Asset Management, which is an investment management firm that was previously known as SAC Capital Advisors LP, named for the monogram of its original founder Steven A. Cohen. EverPoint Asset Management was officially created in 2014 when the firm’s official renaming occurred with its funds being renamed into Cubist Systematic Strategies and the current EverPoint Asset Management. SAC Capital Advisors LP was originally founded in 1992 by CEO Steven A. Cohen. When the company was accused of insider training with six former employees pleading guilty and two others in the company, Michael Steinberg and Mathew Martoma, being found guilty, Steven A. Cohen agreed to close SAC Capital Advisors LP and return client money. Steven A. Cohen, along with key executives, decided that its operations as a “family office would be simpler if we operated with new legal entities and new names.” EverPoint Asset Management, along with Cubist Systematic Strategies, were created out of this decision and act as its new equity trading units doing business for the newly named Point72 Asset Management company. The company group has decided to name its quantitative trading business into Cubist Systematic Strategies and utilize the names Point72 and Everpoint to rebrand many of its businesses on a global scale with its businesses in Asia split into Point72 Asia Asset Management and EverPoint Asia Asset Management. EverPoint Asset Management invests most heavily in the consumer discretionary sector, which alone makes up over a quarter of its total asset allocations, and also invests in the health care, information technology, finance, materials, and industrials sectors, among others to a lesser degree, in order of decreasing allocation. The company has a market value of $5.3 billion with a turnover rate of 88.3%.
