But Samsung Has Better Ads

Samsung (SSNLF) might have lost in a Silicon Valley courtroom, but it scored a major advertising slap-in-the-face victory over Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone release fanfare. A very funny ad shows hordes of Apple fanatics waiting impatiently in an endless line to buy the new iPhone 5 only to discover their friend’s Samsung’s Galaxy III S sports more features. The ad effectively ends with disappointed iPhone buyer hoping that the next iPhone will be more like Galaxy. Unfortunately for Apple, it will take more than changing channels to solve the myriad of iPhone 5 problems. The new iPhone has been plagued with delayed parts shipments, inadequate battery life, easily scuffed phone cases and the infamous faulty maps app. But now that the dust has settled and all the confetti’s been thrown, was there enough difference between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 to warrant such excitement? And is the Galaxy S3 really a superior phone when compared to Apple’s newest product?
Apple fans were disappointed that the iPhone 5 didn’t have more upgrades and new features than its predecessor, including a mobile payment feature and touch file sharing. But rumors were already circling before the iPhone 5 was released about improvements and features the iPhone 6 would offer. With Samsung’s latest advertising campaign highlighting the iPhone 5 shortfalls, Apple engineers might want to make sure that their next iPhone meets or exceeds what Samsung smart phones already have to offer.
