Adjusted net income for the quarter of $137.4 million, or $1.27 per diluted share, compares to 2012 first quarter net income of $108.2 million and EPS of $0.88, respectively. On a reported basis, first quarter 2013 EPS of $1.10 increased 25% compared to the $0.88 reported in the comparable quarter last year.

Johnson, Herbalife's chairman and CEO, said, “We continue to deliver record results in sales and profitability as our independent distributors successfully execute numerous growth strategies that enable deeper market penetration, developing customers using our weight management and targeted nutrition products every day.”
For the quarter ending March 31, 2013, Herbalife generated cash flow from operations of $137.6 million, an increase of 14% compared to 2012; paid dividends of $30.9 million; invested $24.9 million in capital expenditures; and repurchased $162.4 million in common shares outstanding under its share repurchase program, the company said.
HLF’s current share price is $43.66, with a change from average up 6%.

Orchard Supply Hardware reported a net loss of $33.57 million for the first quarter of 2013, compared to a net loss of $7.24 million in the same quarter last year. The company is currently in discussion with lenders regarding a possible out-of-court solution for restructuring and paying off a loan.
Orchard Supply’s CEO Mark Baker, commented, “We continue to expect comparable store sales growth of 9% to 11% in the first quarter, reflecting our team’s focused efforts during the important spring selling season.”
Orchard Supply could be attractive to the much larger home improvement competitors as a turn-key acquisition.
