Do you ever dictate your inner views on intrinsic value in investing in short instilling insight into the imagionation of those uninterested? Ya, I know it sucks. You're all like, " This stock looks interesting because its selling below its book value with constant eps growth and a strong consumer monopoly!" Then they're like, "Yeah, but its stock price is dropping. Check out this initial offering that is super hot right now."
It's tough when you meet people who don't share your convictions, who would rather run the rat race every day skimming pennies off trades making their brokers rich with the constant trading while paying more and more taxes each year. Warren Buffett and I pay just about the same in taxes each year because we have comparable salaries. However, his wealth outweighs mine by a couple billion. If you follow the leaders who have successfully invested their way into a comfortable lifestyle, mimic their techniques, even grab a few of their coattails to get the hang of it, you will eventaully solidify your belief system and NOT lose money (to your fear, the market, and the government). To sum it all up, it is important to first develop a sound investment strategy and follow your beliefs where they will take you, hopefully into luctrative pastures.
