What is your preference of MTCN vs MT? The company is a tough business but I am willing to dig further to see if there may be a reasonabl
I am not betting on MT going bankrupt. The shares trade for $13. I will buy the shares instead of the convertible at these prices.
Apart from the price, I love the business and the management. If I did not have a high target for the margin of safety, I would have gladly bought it. I am sure that you will do very well buying NOV for the long term at these prices. Do not open a huge position at once but keep adding if the stock keeps going down. Make a comfortably large position around $55-$50 range.
An investment portfolio currently worth $125m (my estimate) plus 5x earnings of $5m gets you to $150m.
That's $108 per share.
At that price you get the software business for free. I'm not buying now but I maintain a significant position. Looking forward to the next 10-q.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were some GS convertibles in that portfolio (like the ones Buffett recently traded in). We'll find out in about four weeks.
