Over Warren Buffett's lifetime, "The Oracle of Omaha" has suggested several books that he thinks is valuable to the investor. Hat tip to Market Folly for compiling this list.


Below is a list of Warren Buffett's recommended reading list:


The Intelligent Investorir?t=valueinves08c-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0060555661 by Benjamin Graham. Benjamin Graham was Buffett's teacher and mentor. Buffett describes his investment style as 85% Graham, and 15% Philip Fisher (mentioned below). Buffett stated that the Intelligent Investor "is the best book ever written" on investing. Buffett is particularly fond of chapters eight, and twenty.


Security Analysisir?t=valueinves08c-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0071448209 by Benjamin Graham. Another masterpiece by Benjamin Graham. This book is for more advanced, and sophisticated readers.


Common Stocks and Uncommon Profitsir?t=valueinves08c-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0471445509 by Philip Fisher. Buffett has stated that he is 15% Fisher in terms of his investment style. Fisher is one of the greatest growth investors ever. Buffett's style of buying businesses with large moats is largely influenced by Fisher. Buffett stated "I sought out Phil Fisher after reading his Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits and Other Writings. When I met him, I was as impressed by the man as by his ideas."


The Smartest Guys in the Room: The Amazing Rise and Scandalous Fall of Enronir?t=valueinves08c-20&l=as2&o=1&a=1591840538 by Bethany McLean. The book was recommended by Buffett in his 2003 annual letter. The title is self explanatory.


The Essays of Warren Buffett: ir?t=valueinves08c-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0966446127The book is a compilation of Buffett's annual letters by topic. Buffett stated that the book is "The most representative book on my thinking is what Larry Cunningham put together."


Sam Walton: Made In Americair?t=valueinves08c-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0553562835 was recommended by Buffett in 2003. The book is Walton's tale of the phenomenal success of Walmart.


Buffett gave Alice Schroeder access to him for her book The Snowballir?t=valueinves08c-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0553384619, which is a very in depth tale of Buffett's life. One can assume Buffett would endorse the book.
