Dick's Sporting Goods is a full-line sporting goods retailer in the United States. Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. has a market cap of $3.35 billion; its shares were traded at around $28.95 with a P/E ratio of 21.1 and P/S ratio of 0.8. Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. had an annual average earnings growth of 11.2% over the past 10 years.

The company is show-cased in today’s Baron Investment Conference. The Chairman and CEO of Dick’s talked to CNBC and Ron Baron, Chairman and CEO of Baron Capital about his company’s business:

Baron owns 10,745,120 shares as of 06/30/2010, which accounts for 1.9% of the $14.08 billion portfolio of Baron Funds. The shares he owns accounts for about 9.27% of Dick’s.

Baron bought the stock back in 2005, when the stock was around $17.5 and he has held it since then. He made good money on the stock, not probably not 2-3 times of the money invested has he said in the show. Anyway, it was a good investment so far.
