In the southern U.S. where I live, there has been some controversy over harvesting forests of hardwoods and reseeding them with pines. Growing hardwoods is very similar to investing in dividend stocks. What you plant or invest in today will not yield much for years to come. That is not to say progress is not seen. It is just slow and deliberate. To grow hardwoods it takes great foresight and commitment to the process. The small investments we make in quality dividend stocks each month won’t yield large payments in the near-term. It will take time for the payments to grow and compound, but they will.

Below are several companies planting the seeds for future yield by increasing their cash dividends:

That is a great list of good companies growing their dividends. I notice you have more Utility & pipeline related companies such as Linn energy, Holly Energy partners, Nustar energy, American electric, etc. In April 2011, about 4 companies in the S&P 500 reported huge dividend increases, they were Oracle Corp, Raytheon company, International Paper & Bank of New York Mellon. These 4 dividend growing companies are featured here http://www.bestdividend-paying-stocks.com/best-growing-dividend-stocks-apr2011.html

Announced on March 22nd, 2011, the Bank of New York Mellon Corp. raised its quarterly dividend by 44% from 9 cents to 13 cents per share. The bank also announced it is buying back $1.3 billion of its own stock. Bank of New York Mellon Corp. is a global financial services company that offers services such as asset servicing, issuer services, treasury services, broker-dealer & wealth management.
