Famous short seller Jim Chanos was interviewed on CNBC today from the Delivering Alpha conference. Other famous speakers included Bill Ackman, Kyle Bass and Daniel Loeb.
Chanos stated that "we are long corruption and short property in China." He is still long the casinos.
Chanos has added wind and solar companies to his short book. He is also short Chinese banks and long high yield debt.
About China's "ghost cities", Jim Chanos states: "These buildings may not be standing in five or 10 years," he said. "You're talking about an economic system where profits are not maximized for the largest economic actors. You're talking about a history of horrible lending. You talking about a system in which the export-driven model hasn't been changed by Western demand."
