Unemployment in the U.S. is only partly cyclical, partly due to the recession, the other part is structural. It is structural in two regards. Firstly, American companies have learned to live with fewer workers per dollar of incremental revenue than ever before."
"Secondly, the educational system is not turning out people who can qualify for factory jobs. Most factory work in the U.S. is computerized or is numerically controlled by machine tools. The problem is the high school kids are not learning enough Maths to be able to use the equipment."
