Legendary value investor Don Yacktman of Yacktman Asset Management was on CNBC to discuss his views on proposed changes to Pepsi (PEP)'s diet Pepsi drink and growth opportunities going forward.

-- Yacktman supports the efforts of Pepsi to improve its drinks specifically when they are trying to experiment with new artificial sweeteners for Diet Pepsi. He thinks it is good if companies try to improve their products.

-- Pepsi is trying is not changing the taste; they are just trying alternative sweetener. There is no argument. Companies like Pepsi do market research before making changes to their products so he is sure they have taken into account what the consumer wants.

-- Growth for Pepsi going forward: Cola is a no-growth business; they make more money with Frito Lay than the cola business and that is where the growth will come from.

-- Pepsi is Yacktman's funds' third-largest holding
