PIMCO's director of global equity and ex-assistant of U.S. Treasury, Neel Kashkari, was on CNBC to discuss his top stock picks and his stock picking criteria.

-- Likes companies with strong balance sheet, attractive valuation, strong cash flow generation and a market leadership position.

-- Even in this time of uncertainty he said he can find stocks which are strong companies and will be good long-term holdings.

-- His picks - Samsung (SSNLF, Financial), Intel (INTC, Financial), Vodafone (VOD, Financial) and Kia Motors (KIMTF, Financial)
