September 30, 2012
David Nierenberg of D3 Funds shares his investment philosophy and he goes about generating his stocks picks

-- Top down approach with finding the out of favor sectors and sniffing through the rubble to find the value investment ideas

-- Bottom up approach is used to analyze the business and understanding intrinsic value of the company identified with the top down approach

-- 2/3 rd of investment ideas are generated using this approach

-- Other 1/3rd come from other sources as visited some company and liked the business, or some other investor told us about the opportunity

-- Times of panic are great times for us as we are able to find great opportunities to invest, we just have to make sure that we have extra dry powder to take advantage of the market panic
