6 Mid-Cap Hot Picks in the Last Three Months

Below are six mid-cap stocks that have been purchased by multiple Guru investors in the last three months, according to GuruFocus Hot Picks Screener.

The parameters used for the screener were as follows: mid-cap stocks that have not only been purchased, but are also currently owned by at least five Gurus; additionally, stocks that have had zero sells in the past three months.

The six mid-cap stocks that appeared in the results were Liberty Ventures (LVNTA, Financial), Generac Holdings Inc. (GNRC, Financial), Arcos Dorados Holdings Inc. (ARCO, Financial), Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd. (MPEL, Financial), KKR & Co. LP (KKR, Financial) and Bemis Co. Inc. (BMS, Financial).



Liberty Ventures Group (LVNTA)


A total of nine Gurus purchased shares of Liberty Ventures as of Sept. 30, all of them new buys.

Liberty Ventures Group consists of Liberty Interactive Corp. (LINTA)(LINTB)’s non-consolidated assets, including interests in AOL, Experia, Interval Leisure Group, Time Warner, Time Warner Cable, Tree.com, TripAdvisor and various green energy investments. Liberty Interactive Corp. is a company that operates various digital video and ecommerce operating businesses.

It has a market cap of $2.07 billion and is currently trading at $56.96 per share.



Generac Holdings Inc. (GNRC)


A total of six Gurus purchased shares of Generac Holdings as of Sept. 30, half of them new buys and the other half stake increases.

Generac manufactures various types of generators such as portable, RV, residential, commercial and industrial. The company also aims to develop products that are environmentally friendly.

It has a market cap of $2.4 billion and has a market price of $34.24, with its stock up more than 8% for today’s morning trading. Its stock price is close to its three-year high.

Generac’s P/E ratio is 7.1, at its three-year low. Its P/B and P/S ratios, on the other hand, are in their one-year highs at 5.5 and 3.

Arcos Dorados Holdings Inc. (ARCO)


A total of six Gurus purchased shares of Arocs Dorados Holdings as of Sept. 30, with the majority of them new buys and two of them stake increases.

Arcos Dorados Holdings is a large operator of McDonald’s restaurants in Latin America, making it the world’s largest McDonald’s franchisee. Operating more than 1,880 restaurants, the company’s presence is seen in 20 countries and territories all over Latin America.

It has a market cap of $2.42 billion and a trade price of $11.96 per share. It has a dividend yield of 2.1 percent, a P/E (ttm) ratio of 19.9, a P/B ratio of 3.5 and a P/S ratio of 0.7.

Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd. (MPEL)


A total of five Gurus purchased shares of Melco Crown Entertainment as of Sept. 30, the majority of them stake increases and only two new buys.

After becoming a publicly traded company in 2006, China-based Melco Crown Entertainment develops and owns casino gaming and entertainment resort facilities focused to appeal to the Macau gaming industry.

With a market cap of $8.45 billion, Melco is currently trading at $15.27 per share, close to its five-year high. Its P/E, P/B and P/S ratios are all experiencing highs at 18, 2.47 and 2, respectively.

KKR & Co. LP (KKR)


As of Sept. 30, Guru John Rogers reported to increasing his stake of the company, while three other Gurus purchased shares of the company at the end of June.

Founded in 1976, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) is a global investment firm that operates private equity funds that take controlling or strategic minority ownership positions for long-term appreciation, as well as invests in leveraged loans, high-yield bonds and less liquid credit products.

The company has a market cap of $3.36 billion, a trade price of $13.99 per share and a dividend yield of 6.8 percent. Its P/E (ttm) ratio is 6.5, its P/B ratio is 0.1 and its P/S ratio is 4.6.

Bemis Co. Inc. (BMS)


A total of three Gurus purchased shares of Bemis Co. Inc as of Sept. 30, two of them stake increases and one of them a new buy.

Bemis Co. Inc is a major supplier of flexible packaging for food, consumer, medical and pharmaceutical products worldwide. It has 78 facilities in 12 countries, and also produces sensitive adhesive coated materials used for labeling and signage.

Bemis has a market cap of $3.48 billion and a share price of $33.54, only $3 shy of its 10-year high. It has a dividend yield of 3 percent, a P/E ratio of 22.7, a P/S ratio of 0.7 and a P/B ratio of 2.2.
