's Gamco Investments chief investment officer, Howard Ward, was on CNBC to discuss his outlook for the market, his expectations for the earnings in the fourth quarter and what he expects in 2013.
-- Fourth quarter 2011 was the weakest quarter in terms of earnings and this year quarter four is the strongest quarter of the year.
-- The economy is improving and that is visible in earnings.
-- Earnings season is conforming to expectations: 70% to 75% have reported positive surprises.
-- What he expects in 2013: about 7% to 8% increase in S&P earnings.
