World-renowned value investor Donald Yacktman is president and co-chief investment officer of Yacktman Asset Management LP, in Austin, Texas. Yacktman’s recently updated portfolio shows 52 stocks, one of them new, with a total value of $19.5 billion and a quarter-over-quarter turnover of 6%.

As of March 31, 2013, Yacktman Asset Management sold out holdings in these 11 companies:

Sold out: H&R Block Inc. (HRB) – Personal Services

After 18 very profitable quarters, Donald Yacktman sold out his H&R Block Inc. (HRB) position, unloading more than 8.5 million shares at an average price of $24.04 for a gain of 21.3%.

The current share price is $29.15 compared to past valuations.

Sold out: Markel Corporation (MKL) – Insurance – Property & Casualty

Yacktman sold out his MKL holding as March 31, 2013, cashing in 800 shares at an average price of $483.26 for a 10.3% gain. Yacktman’s trading shows a history of exceptional gains.



The current price is $533.01.

Sold out: American Express Co. (AXP) – Credit Services

Yacktman sold out his AXP position, selling 246,500 shares at an average price of $62.26 for a gain of 20.9%. Yacktman’s highest gain was in the first quarter of 2009 for 398.5%. GuruFocus shows 13 quarters of solid gains.

The current share price is $75.27.

Sold Out: International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) – Computer Systems

Yacktman sold out his IBM position, selling 2,800 shares at an average price of $202.94 for a gain of 1.4%. Holding IBM for only two quarters, Yacktman’s highest gain was in the fourth quarter of 2012 for 5.4%.

The current share price is $205.75.

Sold Out: Leucadia National Corporation (LUK) - Conglomerates

Yacktman sold out his LUK position, selling 14,950 shares at an average price of $25.50 for a gain of 20%. Yacktman’s highest gain was in the first quarter of 2009 for 99.5%.

Sold Out: TJX Companies (TJX) – Apparel Stores

Yacktman sold out his TJX holding, selling 7,000 shares at an average price of $44.94 for a gain of 13.2%. Yacktman’s highest gains were in third and fourth quarters of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 for 199.9%, 338.2% and 359.1%, respectively.

The current share price is $50.87.

Sold Out: Medtronic Inc. (MDT) – Medical Devices

Yacktman sold out his MDT holding, selling 400,000 shares at an average price of $45.49 for a gain of 12.8%. Yacktman’s highest gain was in the third quarter of 2010 for a gain of 46.1%.

The current share price is $51.33.



Sold Out: Equifax Inc. (EFX) – Business Services

Yacktman sold out his always-green EFX holding, selling 21,600 shares at an average price of $56.42 for a gain of 8.3%. Yacktman’s highest gains were in the fourth quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 for 143.1% and 157.3%, respectively.

The current share price is $61.10.



Sold Out: Tesco PLC (TSCDY) – Grocery Stores

Yacktman sold out his TSCDY holding, selling 121,500 shares at an average price of $17.03 for a gain of 1.6%. Yacktman’s highest gain was in the fourth quarter of 2012 for 10.4%.

The current share price is $17.31.



Sold Out: United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) – Integrated Shipping and Logistics


Yacktman sold out his UPS holding, selling 22,451 shares at an average price of $81.98 for a gain of 5.9%. In the last 11 quarters, Yacktman’s highest gain was in the first quarter of 2009 for 89.6%.

The current share price is $86.80.

Sold Out: Viacom Inc. (VIA) – Media - Diversified

Yacktman sold out his VIA holding, selling 18,975 shares at an average price of $61.73 for a gain of 12.6%. In the last nine quarters, always gaining, Yacktman’s highest gain was in the first quarter of 2009 for 296%.

The current share price is $69.53.

Ok so I've been selling stocks that have gone over my sense of intrinsic value and not finding much to buy in their place. In other words I've been raising cash to near record highs.

So, I just hate it when the best of the best investors sell out of some of the very stocks I've decided are still well below intrinsic value and plan to keep. :-(
