Paul Singer, the founder of hedge fund firm Elliott Management, manages about $15 billion in assets. Singer founded Elliott Management in 1977, making it one of the oldest hedge funds under continuous management. Elliott Associates takes an activist approach when investing.

Singer released his second quarter portfolio last week and it reported that he bought into five new stocks, bringing his total number of stocks owned to 45 valued at $5.196 billion.

Hess Corp. (HES)

Singer’s largest position is in Hess where he holds on to 16.65 million shares of the company’s stock. His position in Hess represents 4.88% of the company’s shares outstanding and 21.3% of his total portfolio.

During the second quarter Singer upped his stake in Hess by 11%. The guru purchased a total of 1.65 million shares in the second quarter price range of $62.87 to $74.14, with an estimated average price of $69.20. The price per share has increased about 8.2% since then.
