The Cupertino hero is expected to discuss the release of the highly rumored new operating system for Mac, iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2. So what all are we hearing?
The Buzz Apple has plans to introduce the upgraded iPads on the October 22 event of the company as per sources close to the company. Apple is set to offer upgraded iPads in the holiday season. The latest version of the device would compete with Amazon’s (AMZN) Kindle Fire, Google’s (GOOG) Nexus 7 and other tablets manufactured by Samsung .
The iPhone maker lately came under huge pressure facing intense rival both in the smartphone and the tablet market, though it continues to remain the market leader in the tablet market. Amazon’s latest 16GB Kindle Fire comes for $229, while Google’s second generation Nexus with same storage capacity and display size is also priced at $229. In response, Apple came out with iPad Mini which would contend with Amazon’s and Google’ lower priced tablets, and recently introduced the iPhone 5C to cater to the demand of the emerging markets. This would help the iPhone maker regain its market share and sustain its dominance.
The redesigned iPads are expected to be lighter, slimmer and have a faster processor. The so called rumored iPad 5 is said to sport the 64 bit A7 chip, the same processor as that of iPhone 5S. Additionally, there is also a buzz that it would have the finger print sensor as the 5S. Will iPad Mini get the same processor treatment, remains be seen. Another doubt looming around the iPad Mini is whether it would finally get a retina display. As per Reuters, some supply chain sources said that the retina display is in short supply. However, both iPad 5 and iPad Mini are going to get sleeker and smaller than the older versions. The Mini is rumored to come in three color variants: white, gray, and gold.
Finally the long rumored OS Mavericks would hit the stores. Mavericks is said to sport a new notification feature which would be extremely useful
What More? Apple rumors are endless. It has barely been a few weeks since the company introduced iPhone 5S and 5C, and now iPhone 6 is already in talks. It is said to have a bigger display of 4.8 inch compared to the current 4 inch screen. In fact and analyst at DisplaySearch feels that Apple would take a step further to compete with Samsung by releasing a 5.7 inch phablet, particularly as large screen phone are becoming increasingly popular in the Asia-Pacific region.
Other than this we all have been hearing of Apple endeavor of offering a wearable device, the iWatch which is expected to hit the market in 2014. Bloomberg reported that Apple has a 100+ team working on the iWatch. Apple is also said to have keen interest to work on television.
Apple traditionally keeps mum on is upcoming devices to keep the interest of its buyers growing. I would be extremely interesting to see how the tech giant manages to sustain its supremacy while competition is growing, together with maintaining its class of product.
