The third quarter portfolio changes of Soros Fund Management show that Guru George Soros was very active trading, making over 80 changes on the sell side. Here’s a review of his highest-impact sells, starting with Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL). After 19 quarters of triple-digit gains and three quarters of double-digit gains, George Soros sold out his DAL. Delta reported third quarter 2013 net income of $1.36 billion (GAAP), up from $1.04 billion in the same quarter of 2012. Net income per diluted share was $1.59 in the third quarter of 2013. Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL): Sold Out

Up 194% over 12 months, Delta Air Lines Inc. has a market cap of $24.06 billion. Shares trade with a P/E of 11.70. The dividend yield is 0.40%.

Guru Action: As of Sept. 30, 2013, George Soros sold out his DAL, selling 5,151,757 shares at an average price of $20.84 per share, for a gain of 35.2%, his lowest quarter in five years.

The current share price is around $28.17, with a change from average up 35%.

In 22 high-gaining quarters, George Soros topped out at a gain of 326.8% when he added 43,900 shares at an average price of $6.60 per share, in the second quarter of 2009.

The current share price is around $1,031.09, with a change from average up16%.

Over a five-year trading history, George Soros averaged a gain of 41% on 397,587 shares at an average price of $731.33. Selling, he gained 16% on 233,087 shares at an average price of $886.80 per share.
