Due to the high price of Hawaiian land and property, the housing market was hit hard by the mortgage meltdown crisis. Since then, the bank has resolved its bad loans through loan restructuring programs and by writing off uncollectable loans. In addition, the bank restructured $45.6M of mortgage loans and modified another $22M of residential loans to help homeowners retain their homes.
