Compared to most of the gurus we follow at GuruFocus, Leon Cooperman (Trades, Portfolio) wasn’t very active in the third quarter. Cooperman, the founder and chairman of Omega Advisors, a hedge fund with approximately $6 billion under management, added one new stock to his portfolio, Aspen Group Inc (ASPU, Financial).

By comparison, Cooperman, who likes to pinpoint and invest in undervalued stocks, made more than five dozen large transactions in the second quarter.

New buy: Aspen Group Inc (ASPU, Financial)

In September, Cooperman bought 11,241,435 shares in Aspen Group, a for-profit education and education and training services company based in Maryland. The acquisition gave him a 9.99% stake in the company.

The purchase had a 0.03% impact on his portfolio.
