The sales history

Just to remind readers, when this Redmi Note was launched earlier in Taiwan, it sold close to 10,000 units in a second’s time. Xiaomi has always tried to make the best handsets at affordable prices and thus has got an appeal in whichever market it tries to penetrate. After the first batch of Redmi Note 3 sales in a couple of seconds through Flipkart, the company had its second round of flash sale on December 9 through the same e-commerce site and it was equally remarkable with all the handsets sold in a couple of seconds. The American Bazaar put the new Redmi to test to check whether the device matches the users’ expectations. And the results were jaw-dropping since the features of the phablet does aid in creating a hype in the market.

Features have all the lustre

The device has a 5.5 inch touchscreen display and unlike its predecessor, Redmi 1S, this device has a brighter display, and the company has made its look more interesting when compared to other earlier Xiaomi models, Redmi 1S and Mi3.

On turning on the device, the Redmi Note welcomes users with a MUI 5.0 customized screen, which has an Apple iOS like interface. All applications are arranged in a grid with the number of home screens increasing as more apps get installed. Notably, there is hardly any lag in between opening applications with its 1.7 GHz octa-core Mediatek processor.

What makes the Note 3 appealing above other smartphones under the similar budget category is the ability to download a slew of themes for users via its cloud system. The company also provides customisation features wherein the users can adjust the transition and animation of wallpapers. Owners of the Redmi Note can set privacy settings on the device restricting guest users from accessing messages, phone box or mail box, photos, etc.

Another big attraction for Redmi is the 13 MP camera, the overall picture quality of which is better than many other Indian smartphone brands that boasts a 13 MP camera. Also it has a 5 MP front camera which produces quality images during daylight.

In fact, if someone is new to the concept of phablets, and wants to experience one for the first time, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3G is the best device to cater to a range of daily computing needs.

A better Redmi is down the road

The Redmi Note 3G has already created a storm in the phablet space in India. Very soon, Xiaomi would be launching the 4G LTE version of the Redmi Note via Airtel stores in India. This new offering would be powered by the Snapdragon 400 processor, which is good in rendering graphics – this feature is almost missing in the 3G version which makes Redmi Note 3G a less opted phablet for game lovers. So, if you are a frequent gamer, or want to watch a full HD movie on the phablet, the Note 4G would obviously be a better option to go for.

Xiaomi is presently on a swift sales trajectory through Flipkart India and with the 4G LTE version yet to be released in India, a lot more remains to be witnessed with respect to the sales chart of Xiaomi phablets in India which in turn might create some pressure on the fellow rivals. Let’s stay tuned till the 4G LTE version is finally released to watch the never-ending craze for Xiaomi’s top end pocket-friendly handsets in emerging countries like India.
