The International CES is a global consumer electronics and consumer technology tradeshow which is about to begin in Las Vegas from today until January 9. The exciting bit in the show is that there would be announcements from tech giants around the world on their latest offerings that would be possibly released this year. Let’s dive in and take a sneak peek at the key highlights of the show on its first day and what are the hottest tech gadgets that would be introduced this year.

Samsung unveils its future plans

The biggest news from Samsung’s (SSNLF, Financial) booth at the current Consumer Electronics Show is that the Korean brand’s upcoming flagship UHD TVs are not just UHD TV any more. Now they are super UHD TVs or SUHD TV in short.

The flagship SUHD TV has been unveiled in the CES 2015 which is equipped with two major technologies- high dynamic range (HDR) playback, and Quantum dot colour reproduction.

The JS9 series that is likely to be launched as the SUHD TV by Samsung would be bright and powerful enough with respect to colour processing providing a wider colour space than usually expected with the usual industry video standards.

The CES demonstration of Samsung’s SUHD TV certainly provides a potent reminder of the clear difference HDR could make to the viewer’s viewing experience. Colors pretty much exploded off the screen and thus, Quantum claims that these TVs would have a boost of 20% to the visible colour spectrum delivered by Quantum Dot color system.

Lenovo launches a magical pen and many more…

In some tablets there is a stylus which aids in writing or drawing on the tablet screen but that means an extra item is to be carried along with the tablet which has every chance of getting lost. Thinking on similar lines, Lenovo (LNVGY, Financial) is introducing a technology called AnyPen in its new 8-inch Yoga Tablet 2. This pen helps in writing or drawing on the screen just like an ordinary pen or pencil could do.

The company has opined that using this AnyPen feature, touchscreen navigation would become a lot easier than expected and would serve better than a finger click as well.

Lenovo also introduced the P90 smartphone which is powered by the 64-bit Intel Atom processor and Intel XM 7260 LTE-advanced modem. The device runs on Andriod Kitkat and would be available from February 2015.

It would work on with any Android or iOS and the price is also damp reasonable being priced at around $89. Lenovo expects this smart wearable to be available in the market by April of this year.
