BancorpSouth, Inc. (BXS), a financial holding company for BancorpSouth Bank, announced a 5% rise in profits to $35 million or $0.43 for the quarter, from $33 million or $0.42. Write-downs for the quarter totaled $10 million compared to a prior $1.3 million.

Director Hassell Henry Franklin bought 100,000 shares on 6/24/08 at $18.42; Director James Elbert Campbell III bought 5,362 shares at $18.65; and Director Alan Walter Perry bought 5,000 shares at $20.26.

Executive Vice President Gordon Ray Lewis sold 1,188 shares on 1/31/08 at $24.17.

The company’s quarterly loss increased 14.3% to $155.6 million or $0.45 compared to a loss of $136.1 million, despite revenue rise of 23% to $2.61 billion. Liberty bought back $910 million in company shares, and plans to buy back another $500 million.

Director of Liberty Global Inc. Paul A. Gould bought 30,000 shares during the past week at $32.08. Since March, Director Gould bought a total of 78,000 shares at $31.24 to $33.31.

SV President & Co-CFO Charles H. R. Bracken sold 28,769 shares on 6/9/08 at $34.39, and Director David E. Rapley sold 2,105 shares on 3/27/08 at $33.86.

White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd. (WTM), property and casualty insurer sets the quarterly dividend at $2 per share. Esurance is also a subsidiary of White Mountains Insurance, which sells auto insurance through online and online agents.

Coventry Health Care Inc. (CVH): Director Rodman Moorhead Bought 10,000 Shares

Healthcare manager, Coventry Health Care, Inc. (CVH), lowered their second quarter earnings from $0.55 to $0.57 per share, which is lower than the expected $0.78 per share; as a result the company share prices dropped 23% last week. All companies in the same sector have lowered their earnings for 2008, as medical expenses increase. Coventry expects medical costs to rise 9% this year.

Edward Owens and Richard Snow own shares in Coventry Health Care Inc.

Director Rodman Moorhead bought 10,000 shares on 6/23/08 at $30.99. VP Patrisha L. Davis and Director John H. Austin bought 3,500 shares, and 5,000 shares, respectively at around $40 per share.
