Cupertino-based technological giant Apple (AAPL, Financial) has created its own niche in the smartphone segment as well as the PC segment through its innovative and stylish devices which had better features than those offered by its immediate rivals. However, in the iPad segment it has not been able to gather much steam in terms of sales growth which has dipped in the past few reported quarters. But Apple is not a company to live with any setback. So, as rumors are stating, it might bring out a new iPad nicknamed the “iPad Pro” that would be a better version of the existing iPad series and might create ripples in the tech market. Let’s find out what are being stated in rumors though nothing concrete has been stated from the company’s headquarters till date.

Rumors in the air

To date, in the tablet segment Apple has not been able to create much dominance. Last Friday, an alleged industrial rendering of Apple’s new “iPad Pro” was leaked which supported the statement that the next tablet being released from Apple’s end would have a 12.9-inch screen display instead of the 12.2-inch screen display that had been claimed earlier.

This rendering has been obtained by Nowhereelse.fr which further mentions that the dimensions of the new tablet offering would be 305.7 by 222.6 by 7.2 milimeters, which means that there would be enough space to accommodate such a huge screen.

It has also been revealed that the rumored device’s screen-to-body ratio would be around 75.7%, which is surely higher than both the Air and Mini iPad offerings which have almost 71.7% of their fronts covered with the display panels.

Though the specifications of the new iPad is not very clear, some rumors suggest that the Pro might adopt an anticipated A9 or A9X processor, have fast charging support and come with a stylus. It could have a new Bluetooth stylus accessory with pressure sensitivity, support for Force Touch input and a USB C connector, as per tech site AppleInsider. The presence of USB C connector makes the new iPad more interesting since to date the 12-inch Mac-book is the only product from Apple’s platter of products that supports USB-C connection.

Rejuvenating the iPad line of business

Launching a new larger iPad does make sense for Apple at this juncture as competitors such as Samsung (SSNLF, Financial) already have their Galaxy Pro 12.2 selling like hot cakes in the market. Also as the company’s iPad sales growth has slowed down as reflected in the recent reported quarter when the iPad sales plummeted to 12.6 million units in the quarter that ended this March, compared to 19.5 million iPads sold in the same period two years ago, the new iPad release could factor a major difference for the tech honcho.

Multiple sources are also of the opinion that the new iPad Pro would be launched in 2015 in order to inject fresh blood into its sagging iPad business line. Bloomberg sources also claim that the full-on production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2015 with respect to the iPad Pro model.

Sources have suggested that the iPad Pro would target mainly the professional and enterprise users.

Last word

Though Apple has not yet defined any of the specifications of the new iPad, rumors are suggesting its release towards the month of September this year. Let’s wait and watch until then as more concrete specifications might be round the corner.
