After Xiaomi has found its feet in Indian market, Meizu, another smartphone giant from China is all set to fit in the same shoes. In view of the headlines that Xiaomi grabbed in India, Meizu still seems to be a distant competition.

Meizu trying the Xiaomi feet

In the same line as Xiaomi launched its Mi 41 priced around $205, Meizu has launched its all new M1 note to stand as a potent competitor to Xiaomi.

Meizu had dropped a hint about launching their M1 note back in March on their Facebook (FB, Financial) page. Meizu still is nowhere close to Xiaomi with regard to the market shares and analysts are of the belief that Meizu is slowly insinuating as the alternative to Xiaomi. Meizu had bagged monetary weightage from Alibaba (BABA, Financial) earlier this year ($590 million) as it is eyeing a bigger market with such sponsors in their stride.

Hereunder discussed are the notable features of Meizu M1 note that are more likely to grab the eyeballs this year.

Screen and processor:

Meizu m1 note comes with a 5.5 inch 1920x1080 pixel display coupled with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. There is in-built 2 GB RAM, MediaTek (MDTKF, Financial) MT6752 SoC with an octa-core Cortex A53 cores. It runs with Android 4.4.4 KitKat atop which it has its proprietary Flyme 4 skin. The Panel Self Refresh Technology, lower power consumption and 403 PPI density makes it completely worth a customer’s delight. So do the fully laminated screen which ensures 75% less reflection.

On a comparative basis, Meizu M1 note has a bigger screen than Xiaomi Mi 4i which has a mere 5 inch HD screen. Also, as compared to Xiaomi’s OGS glass, M1 note has a more high-end Gorilla Glass 3. Whatever be the glasses, both the phones render comfortable reading experience under direct sunlight.

Xiaomi Mi 4i and M1 note both have microSD slots but M1’s slot has a bigger passage that is an advantage for users at large.

Camera

The 13MP rear camera with an LED flash is a real bliss to use and there is also a 5MP front camera to lace the Skype experience with excellence.

Battery

It operates on a 3140 mAh battery under the hood. As per the technical experts, the battery is powerful and holds charge for a really long stretch. What’s more, the battery promises 12 hours of 4G web surfing, 15 hours of video playback and 40 hours of 2G talktime.

With Xiaomi already having left its mark with 32 hours battery service, it will take some time to see whether Meizu’s technology is ripe enough to beat Xiaomi’s popularity.

Connectivity

LTE, 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, microUSB and Bluetooth 4.0 are there to grace the connectivity front and give the users a high-end technical experience.

Price

The main pull of M1 note is that it is the most reasonably priced tablet by a long chalk. It costs around $209 which is a decent price quote for the features it has on offer and can give a run for their money to a number of global names like Apple (AAPL, Financial) and Samsung (SSNLF, Financial).

Conclusion

All said and done, Meizu seems to be spending wide wings to gain a strong foothold in the Indian market with its promising technological advances and looks to leave the already popular Xiaomi way behind in the times to come.
