On July 1, Hewlett-Packard (HPQ, Financial) filed for a separation that would split its current business in two. The separation will allow for further strengthening of the firm’s enterprise businesses, which have led the majority of the firm’s revenue growth in recent quarters. Additionally, it will also provide greater opportunity to revive the firm’s Printing and Personal Systems Group, which has struggled with competitive pressures and slow personal computer sales. In an interview following HP’s third quarter earnings release, CEO Meg Whitman talked about the quarter’s earnings results and gave her insight on what investors can expect from the separation.
