Inside Trading December Report

Every day I pull a list of the insider traders then I shorten the list to be only buys done by roles that have a proven track record (see my previous post for a little on this). Finally I run an evaluation of the companies based on some of the ratios that Graham used to find companies that are cheap (See my earlier series on this).

This is just the start for me though after a company reaches this level it is worthy enough for me to look at it further not necessarily.

Anyway a few of you asked so I'll post the 3&4 star companies that have made my list between November and December. Happy hunting!

Toby, Where do you find the data to pull a list of the daily insider trades?

Toby, keep in mind that the following is a quick and heavily subjective opinion. Using your data, I did a quick and dirty analysis to rank your list. I simply multiplied the "price to" ratios, and sorted them in a descending pattern. Then starting at the bottom, I knocked off the companies carring too much debt or too much competitive pressure.

DOW 6.76 0.89208 9.03 most interesting

BRY 2.72 0.7347 2.82 debt

IUSA 13.41 0.6179 10.87 debt

CDI 6.46 0.4204 5.24 interesting

CTS 6.22 0.4001 2.26 interesting

MWV 8.05 0.3691 8.31 some interest

AIRT 3.02 0.3324 4.92 some interest

SLI 5.1 0.3042 NA some interest

CMC 4.77 0.1891 5.12 debt

EPE 13.05 0.1275 10.16 debt

BWS 5.97 0.0784 5.86 competition

TIN 0.29 0.0092 12.94 debt

In my view, DOW appears to be the most appealing bargain on your list.

Hi Budlab I pull the data from a feed at the SEC and then parse into a local database for my own mischievous purposes.
