Distressed investor Wilbur Ross (Trades, Portfolio) appeared on Bloomberg this morning to give his take on the markets and areas in which he is investing.

Ross said he had been purchasing mostly broken down oil and gas bonds, but it has gotten harder as the price for oil rises. The situation "characterizes the market," he said, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to find value, "even if you look in the dustbin."

Ross listed three other areas he finds attractive now: marine transport, machinery companies and metals and mining.

"That is the disconnect between markets and the real economy -- I don't see big engine for growth anywhere in the world, but yet the market goes prancing along very nicely. So I think it's a little scary," he said.

Ross also discussed China, oil prices and leverage.
