Berkshire unit buys real estate broker

HomeServices of America Inc., a real estate brokerage unit of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc., said Wednesday it has acquired Alabama-based broker Roberts Brothers Inc. to expand its business in the Southeast.

Terms were not disclosed. Mobile, Ala.-based Roberts Brothers operates six offices in the greater Mobile area, employing more than 200 sales associates. The acquisition will give HomeServices, which bought RealtySouth in 2002, about 1,400 sales associates and 28 offices in Alabama.
