As we previously announced, it is now time for us to announce the winners for GuruFocus 2016 Portfolio Contest. The winner is based on the performances of the contest stocks relative to S&P 500 from the day the portfolio was created. The performance cutoff date was January 28, 2017. We now have the winners.
The winners for 2016 contest are user tmwalsh1, DalstonDude, and Woodtick27. These users were able to have the gains of more than 158% with their picks and beat S&P 500 by more than 135% in about a year. The first winner gets $1000 and the second and the third get $500 each. Their bigger gains came from the stocks that they have picked. Congratulations!
Please contact us to claim your awards. We can pay by check or PayPal. If you want to be paid by check, please let us know your mailing address. Checks are for US address only. If you would like to be paid by PayPal, please give us the email address of your PayPal account. We will also need you to fill a W9 form if you are a US resident and W8 if you are non-US resident.
In the mean time, you are invited to participate the 2017 Portfolio Contest for Free and the winner will be awarded cash of up to $1,000. The deadline to participate this contest is Jan. 31, 2017. The detailed contest rules are here. Please note that we did make some changes to the rules: Each contest portfolio needs to have at least 3 stocks. These stocks should have at least an initial stock price of higher than $1.
