The Dow Jones gained on Friday while other leading indexes reported losses. For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21830.31 for a gain of 33.76 points or 0.15%. The S&P 500 closed at 2472.10 with a loss of -3.32 points or -0.13%. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6374.68 for a loss of -7.51 points or -0.12%. The VIX Volatility Index was higher at 10.37 for a gain of 0.26 points or 2.57%.

For the week, the Dow Jones gained 0.61%, the S&P 500 reported a loss of -0.02% and the Nasdaq Composite reported a loss of -0.21%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at an all-time high on Friday with gains from second-quarter earnings reports. Economic reports affecting market trading included the following:
