As our readers read the Berkshire Hathaway Meeting notes and watch the videos, it is time for us to have our contest again: What stocks did Warren Buffett buy for Berkshire Hathaway?

In about two weeks Warren Buffett will report his portfolio of March 31, 2010. We are hosting our quarterly contest here, asking users to guess which stocks Warren Buffett bought in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter of 2009, Warren Buffett did not start new positions. He added to his existing positions in Wells Fargo (WFC), Republic Services (RSG), Iron Mountain (IRM) and Wal Mart (WMT). Did he start any new positions? What else did he buy as the market are about 70% higher than it was a year ago?

We would like to invite everyone to participate this contest. The winners will each win a copy of great investment book selecting from this list:

Joel Greenblatt: The little Book that Beat the Market

Joel Greenblatt: You Can be a Stock Market Genius

• Benjamin Graham: The Intelligent Investor

Martin Whitman: The Aggressive Conservative Investor

• Peter Lynch: Beating the Street

• Peter Lynch: One Up on Wall Street

David Dreman: Contrarian Investment Strategies in the Next Generation

• The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life

Mohnish Pabrai: Dhandho Investor

Registered users may participate this contest by entering up to 3 stock symbols into the comment area of this post. Also state briefly the reasons for your guesses. If more than 3 symbols are entered, only the first three will be counted. The deadline for this contest will be when Warren Buffett releases information of Berkshire 's holdings, which will be in two weeks. Write your answer to the comment area. If you are not registered, you need to register to participate.

WMT, PG, JNJ

Probably he will have invested in large caps and these three which he already owns are currently at attractive prices and are defensive at current market levels.

No new purchases. Maybe adds or maybe Lou Simpson of GEICO, but Buffet, no NEW holdings.

I don't think he added to or made any new purchases. Geico may have but Buffett is spending his time with acquisitions, he needs to move the needle, not fiddle in stocks (unless of course there is a huge opportunity or future acquisition in mind).

What's BYD? I thought that was the battery company they bought. I've tried buying stock in it, using BYD as the symbol. But that's for Boyd Gaming Corp. I'm surprised to see that BTd as your recommendation. Do you mean Boyd Gaming Corp? I doubt it.

JNJ (price down, he loves it), hero honda motors (he's looking in India) though this won't show up in the report, and NRG for Lou Simpson. (Also, he'll scoop up more IRM; if we need a third one in the report.)

Also, may I comment that Berkshire's report does showcase the picks of two men, and we can distinguish between them.

IRM, RSG, WFC

IRM was at a low around $22 in 1Q-2010 and Buffet purchased at higher prices in 4Q-2009 at $23-27 range. RSG and WFC with lows around $26 for 1Q-2010 were near previously purchased prices.

WMT-Because it's probably the best company you can find when you need deploy 500M-1B in the market.

COST- Charlie told him too..."great companies at almost a fair price"

NSRGY-They are obviously better business folks than Irene @ Kraft...got that "fantastic pizza business" he keeps talking about.

I will choose that Warren Buffett added to his stakes in Walmart, Wells Fargo, and JNJ.
