U.S. indexes closed mostly lower on Monday. Skepticism over tariff repeals in ongoing China trade negotiations was a top detractor. Trading was relatively lighter due to the Veterans Day holiday. There were no economic reports on the calendar. The bond markets were also closed.
Investors continued to watch third-quarter earnings, which are coming to a close over the next two weeks. The majority of earnings results in the S&P 500 have beat expectations. On Monday, Alibaba (BABA, Financial) reported record sales from Single's Day, with the stock now up approximately 36% for the year.
