Arctic Cat Inc. was formed by snowmobile pioneer Edgar Hetteen in 1960 due to his departure from his previous self-started business. The company made their first snowmobile in 1960 and in 1970, started the Boss Cat line but went bankrupt in 1982. Two years later, a new company Arctico was created to continue the production of Arctic Cat snowmobiles. The Company was successful in keeping the Arctic Cat alive and in 1996 the company changed its name to Arctic Cat. The Company designs, engineers, manufactures, and markets snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and recreational off-highway vehicles under the Arctic Cat brand name. It also provides related parts, garments, and accessories. The Company offers accessories consisting of bumpers, cabs, luggage racks, lights, snow plows, backrests, windshields, wheels, track systems, and winch kits; shocks, attachments, and float avalanche airbags; and maintenance supplies, such as oil and fuel additives. In addition, the company provides snowmobile garments for adults and children under the Arcticwear label; and garments for ATV and recreational off-highway vehicle riders under the Arcticwear ATV Gear label, as well as insulated outerwear under the Drift Racing brand name. Its products are marketed through a network of independent dealers in the United States, Canada, and Europe; and through distributors representing dealers in Europe, South America, the Middle East, Asia, and other international markets.
