Business Description

Accelrys, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware in 1993. The Company develops and commercializes scientific business intelligence software and solutions that enable its customers to accelerate the discovery and development of new drugs and materials. The Company's customers include pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other life science companies, as well as companies that are in the energy, chemicals, aerospace and consumer packaged goods markets. The Company's software and service solutions are used by its customers' scientists, biologists, chemists and information technology professionals in order to aggregate, mine, integrate, analyze, simulate, manage and interactively report scientific data. It designs, develops, markets, and supports software based solutions that facilitate the discovery and development of new and improved products and processes in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, energy, chemicals, aerospace and consumer packaged goods industries. Using its solutions, its customers create and obtain real time access to scientific data that enables them to make informed decisions which increase the probability of success of their chosen path. The Company's software and services are intended to reduce its customers' product development costs, shorten the time to market for their new product introductions and improve their business processes. The Company's customers include commercial, government and academic organizations. Some of its competitors include Gaussian Inc., Atomistix and Scienomics.
