Atlantic Coast Financial Corp is a thrift holding company, which through its subsidiary, Atlantic Coast Bank provides banking services to individual and corporate customers mainly Georgia and Florida.

Atlantic Coast Financial Corp was incorporated in Maryland. It operates as a holding company for Atlantic Coast Bank. The Bank provides standard banking services to individual and corporate customers in Georgia and Florida. The Bank's main business consists of attracting retail deposits from the general public and investing those funds in held-for-sale and loans secured by first mortgages on owner-occupied, one- to four-family residences originated through its warehouse lending customers, and, to a lesser extent, first mortgages on owner occupied, one- to four-family residences, home equity loans and automobile and other consumer loans originated for retention in its loan portfolio. The Bank also originates multi-family residential loans, commercial construction and residential construction loans. Loans are obtained principally through retail staff and brokers. It also invests in investment securities, mainly those issued by U.S. government-sponsored agencies and entities, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae. The Bank offers a variety of deposit accounts having a wide range of interest rates and terms, which generally include savings accounts, money market accounts, demand deposit accounts and time deposit accounts with varied terms ranging from 90 days to five years. The Bank has branches located in Jacksonville Beach, Orange Park, Neptune Beach, Westside, Southside and Julington Creek in the Jacksonville metropolitan area as well as in Waycross, Douglas and Garden City, Georgia The Bank's primary lending area is in the Jacksonville metropolitan area with its deposit customers residing in both the Jacksonville metropolitan and southeastern Georgia markets. The Bank facescompetition in attracting deposits and originating real estate and other loans. The Company is subject to regulation and examination by the OTS.
