GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Accretive Health Inc was incorporated in Delaware under the name Healthcare Services, Inc. in July 2003 and changed its name to Accretive Health, Inc. in August 2009. The Company is providers of services that help healthcare providers generate sustainable improvements in their operating margins and healthcare quality while also enhancing patient, physician and staff satisfaction across its three offerings - revenue cycle management; quality and total cost of care; and physician advisory services. Its integrated revenue cycle management service offering helps U.S. healthcare providers to more efficiently manage their revenue cycles, which encompass patient registration, insurance and benefit verification, medical treatment documentation and coding, bill preparation and collections. The Company develops and refines its offerings based in part on information, processes and management experience garnered through working with many of the largest and most prestigious hospitals and healthcare systems in the United States. Its customers are multi-hospital systems, including faith-based or community healthcare systems, academic medical centers and independent ambulatory clinics, and their affiliated physician practice groups. The Company competes with athenahealth, Eclipsys, MedAssets, Deloitte Consulting, Huron Consulting, Perot Systems, and Computer Science Corporation/First Consulting. The customers it serves are subject to a complex array of federal and state laws and regulations. These laws and regulations may change rapidly, and it is frequently unclear how they apply to its business.
