AMCOL International Corporation, a Delaware corporation was incorporated in 1924. It is an international producer of specialty materials and related products and services for the industrial and consumer markets. The Company operates in segments including performance materials, construction technologies, energy services and transportation. Performance materials segment produces and supplies bentonite and related products. It also supplies chromite and leonardite, and operates more than 25 mining or production facilities. This segment is comprised of four key product lines: metalcasting; specialty materials; basic minerals; and pet product. Its product line includes Metalcasting , Specialty Materials, Basic Minerals and Pet Products. Its principal products are marketed under trade names including VOLCLAY, PANTHER CREEK, PREMIUM GEL, ADDITROL, ENERSOL, and Hevi-Sand. The Construction Technologies Segment serves customers engaged in construction projects, including site remediation, concrete waterproofing for underground structures, liquid containment on projects ranging from landfills to flood control, and drilling applications including foundation, slurry wall, tunneling, water well, and horizontal drilling. This segment is comprised of four key product lines: building materials; contracting services; drilling products; and lining technologies. Its product line includes Lining Technologies, Building Materials, Drilling Products and Contracting Services. The Energy Services Segment provides services to improve the production, costs, compliance, and environmental impact of activities performed in the oil and gas industry. It offers patented technologies, products and services for all phases of oil and gas production, transportation, refining, and storage. Its main services include Water Treatment, Coil Tubing, Well Testing, Nitrogen Services and Pipeline. The Transportation Segment includes long-haul trucking business and freight brokerage business for delivery of finished products throughout the continental U.S. The lining technologies product line competes with geosynthetic clay liner manufacturers, several suppliers of alternative lining technologies, and providers of soil and environmental remediation solutions and products. The energy services segment competes with other oil and gas services companies. The Company's operations are subject to a variety of national (including federal, state, and local) and international laws and regulations relating to environmental, health and safety ('EHS') matters.
