Guru Investment Theses on Acacia Research Coroporation

Baron Funds Comments on Acacia Research Corp. - Dec 07, 2012

Acacia Research Corp. (ACTG), a leader in intellectual property (IP) monetization, declined after the company reported a confusing quarter. Revenues were down and below expectations, but we believe that the licensing deals it is working on are increasingly complex, so it's to be expected that revenues will be lumpy. We like the company's move to acquire IP. In fact, we participated in a private placement to help fund this initiative, and we still expect great returns from these investments and continued growth in Acacia's base outsourcing business.
