Einhorn is a noted activist investor, taking positions in companies and then pushing management to implement changes. He has been very successful in his strategy with Greenlight Capital providing annualized returns of 19.5 percent since its founding in 1996. AerCap Holdings NV AerCap Holdings NV is incorporated in Netherlands & founded in 1995. It is an integrated aviation company, conducting aircraft leasing and trading aircraft. It also provides aircraft management services to other owners of aircraft. It provides aircraft, engines and parts to customers in every major geographical region. As of December 31, 2013, it owned 236 aircraft and seven engines, managed 69 aircraft, had 44 new aircraft on order, which included five A320neo aircraft, three A330 aircraft, nine A350 aircraft, 20 Boeing 737 aircraft and seven Boeing 787 aircraft. Its aircraft portfolio consists primarily of modern, technologically advanced and fuel-efficient narrowbody aircraft, with a particular concentration of Airbus A320 family. The company also provides aircraft management services and performs aircraft and limited engine MRO services and aircraft disassemblies through its certified repair stations. It leases most of its aircraft to airlines under operating leases. Under an operating lease, the lessee is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the equipment during the lease term and the lesser receives the benefit, and assumes the risk, of the residual value of the equipment at the end of the lease. The aircraft leasing and sales business is highly competitive. It faces competition from aircraft manufacturers, financial institutions, other leasing companies, aircraft brokers and airlines.
