Altra Holdings, Inc. is a global designer, producer and marketer of mechanical power transmission and motion control products serving customers in a diverse group of industries, including energy, general industrial, material handling, mining, transportation and turf and garden. The company's product portfolio includes industrial clutches and brakes, enclosed gear drives, open gearing, engineered belted drives, couplings, engineered bearing assemblies, linear components and other related products. Its products are used in a number of high-volume manufacturing processes where the reliability and accuracy of its products are critical in both avoiding costly down time and enhancing the overall efficiency of manufacturing operations. Its products are also used in non-manufacturing applications where product quality and reliability are especially critical, such as clutches and brakes for elevators and residential and commercial lawnmowers. The company markets its products under well recognized and established brands, many of which have been in existence for over 50 years. Some of its registered and unregistered trademarks include: Warner Electric, Boston Gear, TB Wood's, Kilian, Nuttall Gear, Ameridrives, Wichita Clutch, Formsprag, Bibby Transmissions, Stieber, Matrix, Inertia Dynamics, Twiflex, Industrial Clutch, Huco Dynatork, Marland, Delroyd, Warner Linear and Saftek. Its products are either incorporated into products sold by original equipment manufacturers to end users directly or sold through industrial distributors. The company offers its products through its direct sales force comprised of company-employed sales associates as well as independent sales representatives. Competition in the Company's business lines is based on a number of considerations including quality, reliability, pricing, availability and design and application engineering support.
