Autoliv Inc is a Delaware corporation. It was created from the merger of Autoliv AB and the automotive safety products business of Morton International, Inc., in 1997. The Company is a developer, manufacturer and supplier to the automotive industry of automotive safety systems. Its product include passive safety systems and active safety systems. Passive safety systems are meant to improve vehicle safety, and include modules and components for passenger and driver-side airbags, side-impact airbag protection systems, seatbelts, steering wheels, passive safety electronics, whiplash protection systems and child seats, and components for such systems. Active safety systems are designed to make driving easier and more comfortable and to intervene before a collision in order to make accidents avoidable or reduce the impact. Active safety products include automotive radars, night driving assist, camera-based vision systems, brake controls and other active safety systems. The Company considers its products to be components of integrated automotive safety systems. Its operating business segments are Passive Safety products (airbags, seatbelts, steering wheels, restraint electronics, crash sensors) and Active Safety products (camera-based vision systems, night driving assist, automotive radars, brake controls and other active safety systems). The Company is subject to the requirements of environmental, occupational health and safety and other governmental regulations in the United States and other countries.
