AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc was incorporated under the laws of the state of Delaware on June 6, 2007. The Company is engaged in theatrical exhibition. It introduced Multiplex theatres in the 1960s and the North American stadium-seated Megaplex theatre format in the 1990s. It owns operates or held interests in 345 theatres with a total of approximately 4,976 screens primarily in North America. It license first-run motion pictures from distributors owned by film production companies and from independent distributors. It license films on a film-by-film and theatre-by-theatre basis. The Company obtains licenses based on factors including number of seats and screens available for a particular picture, revenue potential and the location and condition of its theatres. It is also engaged in Food & beverage after box office admissions. Food & beverage items include popcorn, soft drinks, candy, hot dogs, premium food & beverage items, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. It has implemented dine-in theatre concepts at 11 locations, which feature full kitchen facilities, seat-side servers and a separate bar and lounge area. The Company competes with other film delivery methods, including network, syndicated cable and satellite television, and DVDs, as well as video-on-demand, pay-per-view services and downloads via the Internet. The Company owns and operates theatres and other properties which may be subject to federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to environmental protection.
