Amira Nature Foods Ltd was incorporated in the State of British Virgin Islands. The Company is a global provider of packaged Indian specialty rice, with sales in over 40 countries. The Company generates the majority of its revenue through the sale of Basmati rice, long-grain rice grown only in certain regions of the Indian sub-continent, under its flagship Amira brand as well as under other third party brands. The Company sells its products, primarily in emerging markets, through a broad distribution network. The Company launched its flagship Amira brand in 2008 and now sells its branded products in more than 25 countries. In emerging markets, its customer channels include traditional retail, which it define as small, privately-owned independent stores, typically at a single location, and modern trade retailers, which it define as large supermarkets typically in a mall or on a commercial street and usually part of a chain of stores. The Company sells its Amira branded products to Indian retailers such as Bharti Wal-Mart, Big Bazaar, Metro Cash & Carry, Spar, Spencer's Retail, Star Bazaar (Tesco in India) and Total. The Company also sells in both emerging and developed markets to global retailers such as Carrefour, Costco, Jetro Restaurant Depot, Lulu's and Smart & Final, and through the foodservice channel. Amira offers an extensive portfolio of brands. Customer tastes and expectations have been finely segmented to deliver authentic flavor that go well with a variety of popular cuisines. Amira is an India-based, high-growth global packaged food Company focused on the specialty Indian rice sector. The Company exports rice and agro commodities to approximately 40 countries worldwide. Top markets include Indonesia, Kuwait and Bangladesh. Private Label Retail is sold to retailers and Government-owned corporations.
