Preferred Apartment Communities, Inc. was formed as a Maryland corporation on September 18, 2009. The Company is formed to acquire multifamily properties in select targeted markets throughout the United States. The Company may acquire senior mortgage loans, subordinate loans or mezzanine debt secured by interests in multifamily properties, membership or partnership interests in multifamily properties and other multifamily assets. The Company is in the development stage. It is in the process of forming a subsidiary, Preferred Apartment Communities Operating Partnership, LP. Its investment strategy is to acquire assets in opportunistic and stable markets, taking advantage of a depleting inventory and favorable financing available from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
