Business Description

AmeriGas Partners, L.P. is a publicly traded limited partnership formed under Delaware law on November 2, 1994. The Company is a retail propane distributor in the United States. As of September 30, 2003, they served approximately 1.3 million residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and motor fuel customers in all 50 states from nearly 1,200 propane distribution locations. The Company also sells, installs and services propane appliances, including heating systems. In certain markets, the Company also installs and services propane fuel systems for motor vehicles. Their District locations consist of an office, appliance showroom, warehouse and service facilities, with one or more 18,000 to 30,000 gallon storage tanks on the premises. As part of its overall transportation and distribution infrastructure, the Company operates as an interstate carrier in 48 states throughout the United States. It is also licensed as a carrier in the Canadian Provinces of Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec. The Company sells propane mainly to residential, commercial/industrial, motor fuel, agricultural and wholesale customers. The Company continues to expand its ACE program. At September 30, 2011, ACE cylinders were available at over 38,000 retail locations throughout the United States. Sales of its ACE cylinders to retailers are included in commercial/industrial sales. The ACE program enables consumers to purchase propane cylinders or exchange their empty propane cylinders at various retail locations such as home centers, gas stations, mass merchandisers and grocery and convenience stores. It also supply retailers with large propane tanks to enable retailers to replenish customers' propane cylinders directly at the retailer's location. The Company has over 250 domestic and international sources of supply, including the spot market. Supplies of propane from the Partnership's sources historically have been readily available. The Company is subject to various federal, state and local environmental, safety and transportation laws and regulations governing the storage, distribution and transportation of propane and the operation of bulk storage LPG terminals.
