ARMOUR Residential REIT Inc is an externally managed Maryland corporation organized in 2008, managed by ARMOUR Residential Management LLC (ARRM), an investment advisor registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It invests in residential mortgage backed securities issued or guaranteed by a United States Government-sponsored entity, such as the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) or guaranteed by the Government National Mortgage Administration (Ginnie Mae). Its securities portfolio consists mainly of Agency Securities backed by fixed rate home loans. The Company has elected to be taxed as a REIT under the Internal Revenue Code. The Company competes with mortgage REITs, mortgage finance and specialty finance companies, savings and loan associations, banks, mortgage bankers, insurance companies, mutual funds, institutional investors, investment banking firms, other lenders, governmental bodies and other entities.
