Asta Funding Inc through its subsidiaries is engaged in the business of acquiring, managing, servicing and recovering on portfolios of consumer receivables.

Asta Funding Inc was incorporated in New Jersey on July 7, 1994 and was reincorporated in Delaware on October 12, 1995, as the result of a merger with a Delaware corporation. The Company together with its wholly owned operating subsidiaries is engaged in the business of acquiring, managing, servicing and recovering on portfolios of consumer receivables. These portfolios generally consist of various consumer receivables such as charged-off receivables which accounts that have been written-off by the originators and may have been previously serviced by collection agencies; semi-performing receivables which accounts where the debtor is currently making partial or irregular monthly payments, but the accounts may have been written-off by the originators; and Performing receivables which accounts where the debtor is making regular monthly payments that may or may not have been delinquent in the past. A portion of its distressed consumer receivables are MasterCard, Visa and other credit card accounts which were charged-off by the issuers or providers for non-payment. The business is subject to federal and state regulations.
